Jane

I’m sitting in my Grandma’s rocking chair watching my children play in my front yard (hoping they don’t break a window with their new baseball). I can’t get life off my mind. My mom and I discussed seasons of life last night, and it changed me.

Since humanity began, we have been dealing with the seasons of life. But how will that look in my life? I knew, for example, that my children would be different than each other, but how? My mom mentioned that she is now the oldest mother in our line of mothers. It didn’t take long for it to happen.

My grandmother might not be here on earth with us anymore, but one beautiful thing keeps us all together, connected.  No matter where we are located physically, my family is here for each other.  Whether it is a check in the mail, a card on a birthday, family portraits, a home, professional advice, an offer, a hand to hold, or a meaningful prayer or conversation, we can depend on each other.  We may not see each other as often as we used to, but I’m thankful for technology to step in the gap.

I’m trying my best to teach my children about everyone even though we live in a different state now.  Trust me; they can tell you about the massive family tree I drew one day on our dry erase board.  I miss you all so very much, and I hope you know you are all welcome to visit us here, too.  (Just not all at once if you need free lodging.  ha.  But seriously.)

I started this post last year sometime, but my opening line is still true today.  I am in a new season of life again.  I am still getting to know my own children and how they are different from each other, but I am so thankful for the different gifts that all of my aunts, uncles, parents, and all of my cousins have that we share with each other.  None of us are perfect, and I’m sure we can all drive each other crazy at times; but we are family.  We’re supposed to, right?  I love you all.  You are a blessing to me.  I am thankful for Jane.
