Remember Your Ring

Before we married, my husband pursued me. I built him up and supported his dreams. After ten years of marriage, he still looks forward to being my date, and I still support his dreams. But what about the pursuit?

I have heard over and over at marriage conferences and sermons alike that we should make time for each other. It is true! We need to. But time flies. Life gets busy. Today I am going to do something about it.

I am going to put a reminder in my phone set for once a month on the 14th (and perhaps in my calendar, too). If we haven’t gone on a date, we will. Depending on the budget, it might be coffee at the breakfast table before the kids get up or no chores during a movie after the kids go to sleep.  We do get a babysitter sometimes, too, but we don’t have to in order to make time for each other.

Let Valentine’s inspire you to pursue your spouse; remember why you put that ring on your finger in the first place.
